Global Tourism Economy Forum

Held annually in Macau since 2012, Global Tourism Economy Forum (GTEF) is a leading international platform for leaders from public, private, and academic sectors to discuss the sustainable development of the Global Tourism Industry.

Occasions has played a pivotal role in the creation and organisation of the GTEF since the inception of the Global Tourism Economy Research Center (GTERC) and has supported the forum from its inaugural edition in 2011 to its 10th anniversary and beyond.

Cited by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang as one of the major initiatives of the Macao SAR Government and fully supported by the Central Government, the GTEF has been highly acclaimed by the MICE industry, receiving four awards from the Macao Convention & Exhibition Association in 2014 to 2018 and 2 awards by China (Guangdong) International Tourism Industry Expo (CITIE) in 2018 & 2019. Working alongside the forum’s Chairman Edmund Ho and Secretary General Pansy Ho, as well as  leaders  from  all  departments  of  the  Macau  Government including the Secretary  of  Social  Affairs  and  Culture,  Secretary  of  Finance  and Economy,  Protocol  Office,  MGTO,  Chinese  Liaisons  Office, and Foreign Affairs Commissioner, Occasions charted and developed the concept and program of the forum around the fulfilment of Macau Government’s vision in using GTEF as an international high-level platform to promote the diversification of Macau to become a world centre in leisure and tourism.
